MAC’s Shadescents collection will FINALLY launch in Singapore this March.
I’ve paired makeup and outfits with different scents for years. So it was super fun to see MAC release 6 different fragrances to go with 6 of their iconic lipstick shades.
My favorite of the 6 is probably Creme de Nude (musk sweetened with a little amber and caramel). It’s not a sugary scent but it does have vague resemblance to scents like Prada Candy. More musk than sugary.
I also enjoy Candy Yum Yum, which is a girly Barbie-esque tropical fruits and candy confection. The cotton candy isn’t obvious tho’. This smells more like fruit candy or some sugary mocktail.
The other ones I enjoy from time to time are Ruby Woo (leathery, raunchily-masculine but dries down to reveal a softer sweetness; gives dominatrix vibes when paired with the lippy) and Lady Danger (juicy wild cherries over a more ladylike floral-woody base).
Velvet Teddy is one of my favorite lip shades bar none. But the scent isn’t quite as basic and wearable. It’s a good deal more exotic, and much more like Tom Ford’s Tobacco Vanille than the listed notes of wild honey and creamy musk. If you like that, this is infinitely more affordable.
As for My Heroine, this husky smoky scent is like stepping into a dangerous dark den filled with tarry smoke and leather. Like the lipstick - not for the faint of heart.
Since it’s Valentine’s Day, I had to go with Velvet Teddy on my lips. Although I ended up spritzing on Creme de Nude on top of Velvet Teddy for my fragrance.
MAC Shadescents will be available from 24 March at ION Orchard and 31 March rest of Singapore. The scents and lip shades are all permanent, but the special commemorative color-coordinated lipstick tubes are limited edition.
