Clé de Peau Beauté Collection Bal Masqué Makeup Look for the Holidays
–
If you’re looking for an ultra-luxe look option for the party season, Collection Bal Masqué from CPB is the epitome of “glam”. Once again inspired by Venetian Masked Balls (Venice seems to be the theme for CPB this year), the collection is filled with deep velvet tones of olive, red and burgundy, accented with antique silver and tarnished gold.
The collection includes:
- a makeup coffret with the eye quad, a deluxe sized tube of the burgundy Perfect Lash Mascara, and that GORGEOUS Extra Rich Lipstick 314
- a nail lacquer trio with the 3 shades of the season
- a shimmering body powder which I’ve shown above worn on the face
- special edition Le Serum in a crystalline red bottle instead of the usual silver
The quality and textures of the makeup are impeccable of course. The shadows are typical of modern Japanese-made shadows; they are all shimmery, so if you want a matte transition color this wouldn’t be for you. They are formulated to be ultra-fine and silken to the touch (very low or no talc content unlike typical formulations), and go on translucent in the beginning so you can control how much you build up. The colors are very wearable and glamorous, although I am personally not a fan of the yellow-toned gold - I find beige-golds more flattering on everyone.
My absolute favorite items in the collection are that lipstick, the body powder, and the nail lacquers. They always do a great red - last year’s holiday shade was a deep cherry-toned red, and this one is more of a deep blue-based red, but equally gorgeous and festive. (Think MAC Ruby Woo but creamier.) I don’t know why I am surprised considering nothing in the Cle de Peau Beaute range is cheap, but the nail lacquers were shockingly smooth to me - and you can get away with wearing a single coat if you’re in a hurry because they apply so well.
The shimmer powder is meant for the body, but can also be used on cheekbones for glimmering sparkle. There is enough pearl to strobe your skin, but if using it on your face, avoid the inner cheeks and use a smaller brush for control as you don’t want the glittery speckles to fall down your cheeks and emphasize your pores.
The burgundy mascara is fun but to be honest you can’t really tell they are burgundy when applied, so it’s good - but nothing to write home about.
