Candles by Victoria loaves!

I’m a wax junkie but it’s taken me soooo long to get down to trying Candles by Victoria (arguably one of the most popular wax/candle stores among people outside of the wax community) because her scent list is intimidating.

She has over 700 options. That - and because so many of her designs are big, beautiful, fantasy-dessert designs with whipped wax and embellishments all over, housed in cute reusable glass bowls and mugs, they are unavoidably much heavier than plain paper bags and clamshells of wax. Which means international shipping is always quite high even though her wax is very reasonably priced compared to many vendors, especially considering everything is made to order, and there’s quite a bit of effort involved for many of these.

Anyway - I finally took the plunge and ordered a few custom loaves recently. (And I like loaves cos they look cute as heck but you don’t pay for any glass weight.) I’m a big bakery scent person so this is what I’ll always order first from new vendors I’m trying out. And I think I like smelling cake and candy and cookie more than actually eating them.

Custom scents in the order include:

1. Zingy Mocha - Peppermint Chocolate Splash + Café Au Lait: chocolate bomb! I kinda expected the coffee and mint to be a bit stronger (at least balanced with the cocoa) so that was a slight disappointment. Not that it smells bad. And as with most chocolate fragrances it smells like chocolate pudding or powdered chocolate mix more than dark chocolate. But I can always add my own peppermint and coffee fragrance oils!

2. White Chocolate Caramel Corn - White Chocolate Caramel Crunch + Sugar Corn Pudding (not popcorn!): this is pretty good although the white chocolate dominates everything - and is surprisingly more chocolatey than I’d expected. I’ll let it sit and cure a bit longer and see if the corn pudding comes out more.

 3. Serendipity Cookie - Serendipity + Butter Cookie: my fave of the lot here. I am a HUGE Serendipity fan. It’s strange cos it’s a creamy coconut citrus and cherry blend, and I usually dislike cherry and citrus home fragrances. But blended together, it’s a whole other creature. And with cookies thrown in? Win.

I also ordered but haven’t tried:

4. Marie Antoinette (custom blend) - Pink Cupcake + Angel Food Cake. “Let them eat cake, ya?"

5. I’ll Have What She’s Having - choc chip cookie + bear claws.

Everything I’ve melted is strong so I had to be careful and not put too large a chunk into my warmer. Some of these will knock your nose off your face! Any of you tried CBV and what scents do you love?
